vita:	Herpes Ö DeLuxe, formed 1995, is a four piece group from Bern/ Switzerland working in a musical field between atmospheric noise, electronica bruitiste, sombre soundscapes or harsh drones. Their instruments are partly analogue electronic gear, partly self-built or deconstructed tools like tape loops or turntables that are (mis-)used as sound sources (i.e. as rhythm generators). Live performances - electronic and acoustic soundscapes, ranging from ambient sounds and playful collages to devastating, rhythmic noise attacks - always refer to the moment. According to this, an exclusive set is elaborated for every event, no one of which is ever performed again in the same form, because the spontaneous aspect would be lost and a reproduction would be in opposition to the interactive play of the four musicians, which depends strongly on the situation of a given event. Shows are often complemented with performance elements or other actions. Besides concerts in the traditional sense, Herpes Ö DeLuxe have been involved in numerous other activities; they made the live music for the theater 'Habgier' (Greed) that was staged in 2002 and 2003, and regularly produce the soundtracks for the 'pyrotechnical interventions' of the artist Pavel Schmidt (Solothurn/Munich). Those events usually take place in museums or art spaces and are sometimes accompanied by traditional folkloristic (!) groups. They also sporadically collaborate with BEAT-MAN, singer of the legendary Garage Rock band THE MONSTERS. Under the name REVEREND BEAT-MAN AND THE CHURCH OF HERPES, they are playing a more song-orientated brand of music, closer to the common 'pop'-scheme but with a noisy edge - a genre they lovingly call 'Electronic Gospel Trash'. In late 2005 they celebrated their 10th anniversary with a three day long event featuring befriended guests from six countries, a.o. SCORN, EDWARD KA-SPEL (The Legendary Pink Dots), ASMUS TIETCHENS and TOBY DAMMIT (Swans, The Residents). The members are Von Wurstfinger, Hess, BlindDoc and Roger.Z and all of them are sporadically working in other cultural activities (music, performance, painting, theatre...).
statement:	Der Tran von Herpes Ö DeLuxe wurde weder aus der Leber gewonnen noch in schleimhautverträglichem oder wachstumsförderndem A oder D eingespielt. Um eine Abneigung zu verhindern, sollte die ölige, schleimige und trübe Flüssigkeit – im Gegensatz zu früher – nicht gewaltsam verabreicht werden. So kann ein übles Aufstossen vermieden werden; ob aber Dorsch und Wal deswegen nicht doch aussterben, bleibt eine offene Frage. Die Leberwerte zwangstraniger Menschen jedenfalls stabilisieren sich zusehends. „Tran ist künstlerische Freiheit die stinkt“ (H.G. Wells).
