statement:	i was always interested in how sound can transport a special subject to other persons without using words. nekton falls project was the opportunity for achim and me to find out, how this can work, using a whole scientific subject, reflected by several artists in several ways and finally being presented in audio (and visual too). important for us was to not simply collect several artistic statements on cd but presenting the whole theme complex in its entirety but with all its nuances, catched by several media (audio, design, literature). we thought this is the best way to transport a scientific and social problem with this very special medium ambient music. mich hat schon immer interessiert, auf welche art klänge eine bestimmte thematik an dritte vermitteln können, ohne dass man dazu viele worte benutzt. das projekt nekton falls bot die möglichkeit, einen ganzen wissenschaftlich-gesellschaftlichen problemkomplex, gebrochen durch die persönliche reflexion verschiedener künstler, auf audio-(und auch visueller) basis zu vermitteln. dabei stand für achim und mich im vordergrund, nicht einfach nur eine sammlung von künstlerischen statements zu präsentieren, sondern den themenkomplex in bild und ton in seiner geschlossenheit (sound design, artwork, literatur) auch zu präsentieren. nur so, dachten wir uns, kann man die zu vermittelnde problematik angemessen und nachvollziehbar in das spezielle medium ambient music übertragen.
